About

Laura is an award winning radio reporter/producer based in Detroit, Michigan. She was named the Michigan Associated Press Best Reporter for Radio Broadcasting in 2018 and 2017. She is a feature reporter at WDET, Detroit’s NPR station and the creator of the narrative, documentary podcast Complete Me. Laura’s strengths are using audio to craft scenes and leaving room for characters in her features.

Laura was also a 2012 SoundCloud Fellow for her project, Listen to Detroit (then called, The Detroit Mobile Audio Tour). She volunteers as a “counselor” for the local listening group, Radio Campfire. Her work has aired on Marketplace, WDET, Interlochen Public Radio, The StoryDestination DIY, BigShed: The Audio Documentary Podcast and more. You can view more of her past work experience on Laura’s LinkedIn profile.

Laura learned the craft of radio storytelling at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, she received her B. A. in Psychology at Lewis & Clark College and is currently working toward her Master of Urban Planning at Wayne State University.

Laura is currently obsessed with the small city of Highland Park, MI (located completely within the boundaries of Detroit) where she is a proud first-time homeowner. She’s also interested in figuring out what she can do to limit the need for yard work.
